5 Tips on Twitter Job Hunting
Twitter is all the rage now. Every day you hear of celebs tweeting about their lives, and in fact, much of twitter’s content is in fact useless garbage. However, there’s something to glean off the surface of Twitter – if you know how to use it correctly.
It’s really not that hard to reign in the advantages of Twitter.

1. To start, dedicate a twitter account to your purpose, i.e. getting a job. Leave your “just ate new Tex Mex burrito..nom nom nom” for your personal account. We will be aiming for targeted prospects that won’t care about your burrito.
2. Use some management applications. I suggest twitterfall for a fast and live search of twitter conversations. For instance, if you want to monitor tweets on the subject “job boston”, you can enter that term in the search box. Also, Twitter released an advanced search feature which is very cool. Finally, a desktop app like Seesmic or Tweetdeck will keep your accounts managed, accessible, and easy to use in one place. Lastly, you can use a neat little tool called the twitter Device. It delivers tweets to your phone, and you can define the subject, for instance “IT Job Boston”.
3. Find the person who’s in charge of the position, or someone who works in that department at your target company. Once you find a new position, or lead, you should look up the company to see if they have a twitter page and follow them. You can probably find other workers at that company and follow them as well.
4. Continue expanding your network. Using a similar approach, continue to find friends in the niche areas you concentrate in.
5. Post tweets. As stupid as it sounds, anyone who follows you probably will take a look at your page. If you don’t have anything worthwhile, interesting, or relevant, they might not follow you. Perhaps you have a blog post that you want to link to, and it outlines some of your writing and professional skills. Post a tweet for that. Be creative, but stay focused.
